Knowledge versus Wisdom

We had a thought provoking Forum yesterday at BYU in which the speaker, Mark DeMoss, mentioned a quote on wisdom from Billy Graham. In searching on the Internet, I found it as well as these additional quotes:

Knowledge is horizontal, but wisdom is vertical – it comes down from above.
Billy Graham

Wisdom is knowing what to do.
Skill is knowing how to do it.
Virtue is doing it.

The fool wonders, the wise person asks.

Knowledge is proud that it knows so much.
Wisdom is humble that it knows so little.

A wise man learns from his mistakes.
A wiser man learns from others mistakes.
The wisest man learns from others successes.

Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living and the other helps you make a life.

Wisdom is the right application of knowledge

…gaining knowledge is one thing, and applying it, quite another. Wisdom is the right application of knowledge, and true education—the education for which the Church stands—is the application of knowledge to the development of a noble and God-like character.
